              3:00 pm  Professional Performer — The Riz: a World of Magic

Friday:
              2:00 pm  World Crafts for Tweens and Teens — African Jewelry
              4:00 pm   POKEMON
              8:00 pm   Film for adults (and older teens) — This 2011 Academy Award winning western was based on a novel by Charles Portis

Mondays: Tweens and Teens
    Dora will read aloud short stories from around the world.

Tuesdays: Preschoolers
    Story Time Crafts will continue as normal. All themes will be based on the different continents.

Tuesdays: Teens
     Teen Gather: Our normal “program” where local teens gather and use our meeting room as place to hang out.

Wednesdays: Children and Tweens
     KidsCrafts with Carla: Art projects from around the world, led by ACMS Art Teacher, Carla Terry

Thursdays: Children of All Ages
     Animated movies: we can’t publish the names, so try and guess, based on a short description, or call us at 561-4559.

Thursdays: Children of All Ages
     Professional Performers: Magicians, marionettes, storytellers, animals and ventriloquists make this a “happening” day!

Fridays: Tweens and Teens
    World Crafts: Crafts designed not for children but for teens and older tweens. From jewelry making to lunches, we are doing a little bit of everything!

    Pokemon League

Fridays: Older Teens and Adults
    Movie nights: Again, we can’t tell you which ones, but only older teens, adults, and those with parents may attend. All the films are 2011 Academy Award Winners, and some of them are rated R.

The Library’s Research Skills programs are expanding. Due to popular demand, since many of you participate in the Farmville Co-opt, we will be offering a WEDNESDAY research skills program for your children. This month’s offering will be an Introduction to Library Resources class, and will be offered on January 19 at 1:00 pm. We will discuss how the library is organized, how to search for information on our catalog and how to find the materials you need once you see them online. We will be gearing this workshop for older children as the months progress.

The Tuesday program will continue. This month we will be looking at atlases and maps.

Friday night movie night: I can’t say which movie (it’s a licensing thing), but I can say that it is a film that I have not seen, because it came out during the summer, but that I really wanted to watch it. It’s a Leonardo DiCaprio film about dream thieves, and it caught my attention when it first came out. We’ll be watching it on January 7 at 8:15. Popcorn, chips, candy and sodas will all be on sale by the Teen Council, but admission to the film is absolutely free. Come join me!

Scrapbooking Saturday: this month’s Scrappers Day is on January 15. That’s the same day that the Friends Bookshop is open from 10 until 2. We’ll be scrapping from 11 until 4:30 in the Library meeting room.

Kids Day Movie: Again, I can’t mention titles, but I can say that this film is based on a phenomenally popular book by Rick Riordan about a boy who discovers that he is the son of a Greek god. It has very cool effects, and while it doesn’t follow the book very closely, it hits the spirit of making the old myths accessible to modern children and teens. We’ll be showing it on Monday, January 17 at 4 pm.

Writers Workshop: Do you like to write? Join us at the Library on January 22 at 11 am at our first open writers workshop. Bring a work in progress, a laptop (if you have one) and your creative juices. We’ll have a warm-up exercise, and the best scenario will win a prize.
